Condado Beaches and Things to Do
Condado is a compact, walkable part of San Juan with a beach, a lagoon, restaurants and easy access to Old San Juan. Here is how to spend your days.
Condado beach
The beach is the center of the neighborhood and an easy walk from the condo. It is good for swimming, sunbathing and long walks, and it is a favorite for kiteboarding and wing foiling, with rentals and lessons available on the beach. Ocean conditions can change, so check flags and any posted warnings before you swim. Bring sun protection and water.
If you want to try the wind sports, read our guide to kiteboarding and wing foiling in Condado. Even if you are not trying them, they are fun to watch from the sand.
Laguna del Condado
Laguna del Condado sits between the Condado and Miramar areas and is used for paddleboarding and kayaking. Calmer water makes it a popular alternative to the open ocean, and outfitters offer rentals and guided paddles. Check current hours and conditions with the operator, since they can change. Early morning is often a pleasant time to be on the water.
Old San Juan
Old San Juan, the historic walled district with colorful streets, forts and plazas, is about a 10-minute Uber from Condado. Many visitors go for half a day: wander the streets, visit the historic sites, and stop for a meal. Traffic and parking in the old city can be challenging, so a rideshare is usually easier than driving. Bring comfortable shoes, and plan around the midday heat.
Eating on Ashford Avenue and around Condado
Ashford Avenue is Condado’s main street, with restaurants, cafes, bars and shops within walking distance of the condo. You will find a wide mix of options, from casual breakfast spots to sit-down dinners. Because restaurants change frequently, we do not list individual names here. Check current hours and reviews, and consider reservations for dinner on weekends. A grocery store is also within walking distance, and the condo has a full kitchen if you want to cook a few meals.
Ocean Park
Ocean Park is a nearby beachfront neighborhood a short ride from Condado. It has a wide stretch of beach and a relaxed local feel, and it is another well-known spot for wind sports, with some kiteboarding schools running lessons there. It makes a good change of scenery for an afternoon. Use a rideshare if you do not want to drive.
